Dear Tumblr Teachers: Do you have a policy about technology installed in your school?
The school that I am assigned to this semester has a Bring Your Own Device policy installed all over the building. This means that our students will be able to use whatever technology-related devices that they want to bring to school for the purposes of learning. They could pretty much do this anywhere except for in the hallways between class changes.
Personally, I’m pretty excited about the implications of this! However, I also know that this also opens a Pandora’s-Box-full of possible problems, especially discipline-wise.
Do any of you have something like this in place in your classrooms? If so, how do you use it to foster learning? How do you deal with the distractions that they will inevitably bring?

The school my cousin works at has ipads that the classes can use, and each teacher gets their own ipad and an itunes gift card to load their ipad up with educational apps!

tech only out w/ teacher permission. It stays on the table, right side up. All tech on silent or w/ headphones. If no permission, we take it.
